Located at the base of Alexandra Range in Cow Bay, Jindalba, meaning ‘foot of the mountain’ in local Eastern Kuku Yalanji language is where you can take a step back in time and walk amongst ancient trees in lush Daintree rainforest.
Switch off from the world and show respect to your elders, some of the trees here are prehistoric! It is enchanting to visit Jindalba boardwalk in all seasons.
There are two walking tracks – one is a structured boardwalk through the rainforest 650m return (allow 30-45mins). It is steep in places with many steps. Signs explore the amazing design of the Daintree rainforest.
Part of this structured boardwalk is wheelchair accessible to a viewing area of the creek where you can enjoy the spectacular scenery of ancient rainforest and the tranquillity of the creek. Some assistance may be required to reach the viewing platform.
The other walking track is a 3km class 5 trail (moderately difficult) without structures. It is steep and rough in places and recommended for more adventurous walkers only. Follow the markers and flagging tape.
Parking is available for cars, caravans and coaches at the entrance to the boardwalk. Public toilets and picnic tables are also available here.
