Mount Alexandra Lookout

Mount Alexandra Lookout, or Walu Wugirriga which is the local indigenous Kuku Yalanji name pronounced wah-lu-oo-gid-ee-gah, meaning ‘look about’ is a a must see on any Daintree itinerary!

The lookout offers a spectacular panorama overlooking lush Daintree Rainforest out to the horizon of the Coral Sea with weeping views of Snapper Island offshore, across the Daintree River mouth and over to Port Douglas headland in the distance.

Best viewed on a clear blue sunny day or just after rain when it’s misty.

It is thought the lookout got its non-indigenous name from Princess Alexandra, a Danish Princess who was married to King Edward VII of Great Britain back in 1863.

If possible, have someone take a photo of you standing in front of the view for your own memories and to send to your friends and family. This idyllic view is one of the most photographed spots on the Daintree Coast.

Whilst here, you might like to take advantage of having network reception and catch up on some emails in the car park or post your photos of Mount Alexandra Lookout on Instagram (don’t forget to tag them #daintreecoast). Many areas of the Daintree Coast have limited reception and this lookout is a hotspot with a mobile tower positioned just up the hill.

There is a number of parking spots at the lookout and the area is wheelchair accessible with a flat surface.

Enjoy!
