Forest Creek - Daintree Coast
Forest Creek is the closest Daintree Coast location to the northside of the ferry, with the Forest Creek Rd turnoff located only 320 metres from the ferry.
About 320 metres north of the Daintree Ferry, turn left onto Forest Creek Road, a pleasant scenic rural drive. The road meanders through rainforest and countryside and side roads where there are a number of small acreage blocks with housing.
Some of the forest here has a dryer feel to it than much of the rest of the Daintree Rainforest, with large areas of Casuarina trees which can be susceptible to fire.
After about 4 km along Forest Creek Road, the forest opens up to cleared grazing land for about 3 km, before entering a forested section where the road rises high above the Daintree River, offering views in places. This continues for about 1.5 km, before opening back up into grazing land. The road ends on private property shortly after this.
136 people live in Forest Creek, according to the 2021 census.
Mains power supplies a small number of properties with the remaining properties reliant on standalone off-grid power systems.
