Madja (mud-ja) Daintree Rainforest boardwalk is one of the few places where plants, representing all stages of the evolution of land plants over the last 400 million years, are found. In the Daintree, mangroves and rainforests live side-by-side and the Majda (meaning 'rainforest 'or 'jungle') boardwalk takes you through a journey exploring these habitats. As you walk, look for information signs that label various plants and trace the evolutionary journey of plants. Madja boardwalk is worth visiting on both a low and high tide to view the spectacular changes of this amazing ecosystem. On a high tide the mangrove areas fill with water and the mangroves cast interesting reflections. This boardwalk is disability friendly with a relatively flat structured path throughout and no steep or stepped areas. Insect repellent is recommended as midges (sandflies) are frequent on this walk, especially when crossing the mangrove areas.
