Cape Kimberley Beach
The first publicly accessible beach heading north from the Daintree Ferry, Cape Kimberley Beach is approximately 3 km long, stretching all the way to the Daintree River mouth. Wear sun protection and take drinking water with you. It's well worth the walk. It's hard to beat the feeling of being on a deserted tropical beach and there's a good chance you'll have this beach to yourself. Depending on wind and tides, sometimes debris from far and wide washes up on Cape Kimberley beach. If you're into keeping beaches clean, feel free to bring a bag to collect plastic on your walk. To get to Cape Kimberley beach, if you're heading north, turn right off Cape Tribulation Road onto Cape Kimberley Road, just before Alexandra Range. Keep going for about 5 km, towards the end you'll pass an abandoned resort on the left - keep going until the road ends. From there it's a short walk along a track through a paperbark swamp where you'll be greeted by a magnificent view of Snapper Island just offshore. Look left and you'll see Cape Kimberley, look right and you'll see the beach stretching out to the river mouth, with Wonga Beach in the distance. On a clear day you can see Low Isles on the horizon and Port Douglas in the distance.
