About the Daintree Coast Audio Guides
The Daintree Coast is a place of intense tropical diversity and extreme beauty. It’s very special, and quite unique. It sits just two hours north of Cairns along the beautiful Great Barrier Reef Drive, slap-bang in the heart of the Daintree National Park, and spans two World Heritage areas.
There are lots of hidden gems up here on the Daintree Coast, so before you arrive, make sure you learn where it is, why it’s so special and what are the good places to visit and things to look out for. As you drive north of the Daintree River along Cape Tribulation Road, you can visit no less than ten beautiful tropical beaches, and seven busy clear-running creeks, each creek captivated by its own little valley.
To the west, the Road squeezes between a nearby mountain range, and to the east, the coral reef — the Great Barrier Reef – just off shore. The range is dominated by majestic Thorntons Peak –the Great Rainmaker – creating the very high rainfall and therefore all those happy rainforest watercourses, dropping down to the sea.
Through our podcasts and snippets called “Rainforest Insights”, we aim to explain some of the background, the places to visit and the plants and animals to look out for.
The “we” are – Trish and Mike D’Arcy of D’Arcy of Daintree 4WD Tours. We no longer run the tours, as we’ve done the unimaginable and left the area to be closer to family. Hopefully, though, the podcasts are here to help guide you in your journey around the Daintree Coast.
